SUSTAIN-A-BOWL

RE-THINKING SINGLE-USE PACKAGING FOR ON-DEMAND FOOD

This project gained insights into the damage caused by disposable packaging on the New Zealand environment. Following an exploration into ways of embracing a restorative and regenerative design for the takeaway food market.

The design process involved developing concepts that responded to the initial findings, utilising skills in prototyping, visualisation, computer-aided drawing, and
visual communication.

The design outcome was a sustainable and reusable alternative to the current single-use packaging used for on-demand food. Enhanced by a circular economy, the solution aimed to encourage consumers and restaurants to become apart of a more affordable system, which offered unique promotions, deals and benefits for its users.

Introducing Sustain-a-Bowl to the market would drastically reduce New Zealand’s packaging waste epidemic,

starting at scale.
